"All praise to Gemma Ross, in The Carry On Girls, for defending the films as social history."

Talking comedy on BBC Radio 4 Extra

It was a pleasure to join Jake Yapp on The Comedy Club on BBC Radio 4 Extra to talk about Herlarious and the women who have helped shape British comedy.

As an author and historian, I love exploring the stories behind the laughter: the performers, writers and pioneers whose talent deserves to be celebrated. Bringing those stories to a programme dedicated to comedy was a particular joy.

Herlarious, published by The History Press in February 2027, celebrates women’s contribution to comedy — a subject close to my heart, and one I’m excited to share with readers.

Thank you to Jake and the team for having me!
